Anti-Fog Coatings

Anti-fog coatings are hydrophilic materials that prevent the condensation of water droplets on surfaces, which leads to fogging. These coatings absorb moisture and distribute it evenly across the surface as a thin, transparent layer of water. This prevents the formation of individual droplets, which cause fog. AMCS permanent anti-fog coatings are based on thermoset polyurethane, UV-curable polysiloxane, and thermal cure polysiloxane compositions that absorb or adsorb water vapor. Anti-fog coatings are commonly used in eyewear, goggles, and camera lenses.

Typical properties of anti-fog coatings include:

  • Optical clarity

  • Abrasion/scratch resistant

  • Chemical resistant

  • Anti-reflective/mirror coating compatible

  • Compatibility with Metalizing Treatments

  • Tintability

  • Anti-static

  • Environmental stability

  • Flexible and impact-resistant

  • Hydrophilic and water sheeting

  • Meets or Exceeds Standards (EN-166, EN-168)
